Imagine the Possibilities of Living, Working or Retiring in the very Place You Love to Play. The Sierra Nevada is ranked #1 for Outdoor Sports by Rand McNally.

It seems as though everybody has a lifestyle, or is looking for a new lifestyle, or wants to improve his or her lifestyle. Well the Sierra Nevada sets the standard for all-around lifestyles, especially when talking about four-season climates and recreational opportunities. When you stop to consider what is in the Sierra Nevada region, it's pretty incredible. In fact a recent transplant from the mid-west said, "This is the best kept secret in the country!" And well it might be.

Climate, The Sierra Nevada has more than 300 days of sunshine each year. We have an average annual precipitation of around 7 inches. There are four complete seasons of beautiful springs, warm dry summers and colorful autumns. Winters bring mountain snows for some of the best skiing and snowboarding anywhere, yet leave the valleys relatively free from winter's normal rigors of ice and snow. The winter olympics were held at Squaw Valley showing international recognition.

Summers offer golf, tennis, biking, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, kayaking, wind surfing, water skiing, swimming ... the list goes on. "When you come to this area you have such a wide range of golf courses," says 1992 US Open Champion and PGA Tour legend Tom Kite. Tom has been a regular in the PGA Reno-Tahoe Open, that is staged each year at the Nicklaus designed Montreux CC. Another championship course of distinction is in the Franktown area of Washoe Valley called, Thunder Canyon CC.

Winter provides some of the best skiing and snow boarding to be found any where. Ski resorts like Heavenly Valley, Kirkwood, Incline, Mount Rose and of course Squaw Valley. These ski resorts are some of the best in north america and after a snow storm it will feel like spring skiing in great powder because of our unique climate. For fisher men and women, the famous cutthroat trout in Pyramid Lake can only be taken during the cold winter months. If you like fly fishing you can cast in the Truckee River most of the year.

For all seasons there are other venues of entertainment. Reno was the birth place of casino gaming as it is known today. Although casino gaming in one form or another is common in most states, Reno's casinos and hotels still offer the games that made the town and the state famous. Big name entertainment is still a daily staple in the areas showrooms and lounges. Outstanding restaurants are to be found in the major hotels as well as free standing establishments.

Culture is a big part of the lifestyle. We have an outstanding symphony orchestra, opera and the recently completed and highly acclaimed Nevada Museum of Art, complete with exhibits of works by internationally renowned artists.

Special Events are another feature of the area. Starting in June is the Reno Rodeo which is the third largest event of it's kind in the country. Art occupies the entire month of July, with events happening throughout the Reno-Sparks area. In August we have "Hot August Nights" which celebrates the 1950's. Then comes the Great Reno Balloon Race held in Reno's Rancho San Rafael Park. The week after is the National Championship Air Races, and the world's fastest motor sport.

Lake Tahoe is another featured attraction that adds tremendously to the Sierra Nevada Lifestyle. During the summer months, a drive around the lake's 72 mile shoreline is an event unto itself. You can observe the fresh water salmon spawning in the fall and during July and August you can enjoy the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.

High Technology is growing in the Sierra Nevada. We are becoming a satellite of silicon valley. There is an exciting new economic growth trend coming to the area. More and more high technology companies are starting up operations in the area. We are serious about our claim that we are becoming a new and emerging technology center. A private organization called the Tech-Alliance is proof of that. This organization is raising visibility and attracting more high-tech companies to the area. Companies like Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle and Intuit are joining start ups like Alere Medical and others who are raving about the benefits of living and working in the region. Another Organization called the Sierra Angels is also supporting economic growth by funding start ups with angel funds.

Tax friendly Nevada is another major benefit for starting companies in the Sierra Nevada or moving an existing business from California or Arizona.
